Winter is upon us. As we struggle with the cold and shorter days, it’s also time to marvel at its splendor and appreciate its benefits.
Winter is our season of yin—the passive female principle of the universe, characterized as female and sustaining and associated with earth, dark, and cold. It presents us with an opportunity for introspection and rest. It is a time to rest and take care of ourselves. It’s a time to practice restorative exercises, walking, and moving more slowly. It’s a time for bundling up and keeping warm—a time for reflection and a chance to heal.
Instead of cursing the winter, we should revel in what it offers us.
